Questions & Answers for Parents

Being the parent of a pregnant young person can be a challenging role but your support will be vital in your child's, and grandchild's, well-being. We hope the information here is of use to these parents.

Will my child be able to continue their education?

Yes, we provide teaching and education services that are tailored for teenagers whilst they are pregnant and after they have given birth.

Will we have to pay for childcare or schooling costs?

No, the service is provided by the Plymouth City Council.

How will my child get to the Centre?

Students are provided with a bus pass or relevant bus fare until they are 28 weeks pregnant. Then we provide a taxi to bring the student to and from school every day.

Can I be involved in the childcare? How else can I support my child and grandchild?

Any support you can provide to your child during and after their pregnancy will help them. Parents are encouraged to visit the Centre and to take an active interest in their child's education and their grandchild's development.

Where can I get further information and support?

The Plymouth City Council web site has information for parents of pregnant teenagers that you can read at http://www.plymouth.gov.uk/teenagepregnancy and links to other web sites can be found on our 'links' page.

You can also contact the Centre by calling 01752 237696.
