Staff and Student quotes

Pregnancy and motherhood can be a very emotional and sensitive time for some of you, but by sharing your thoughts and feelings, it will enable us to understand and explore ways of coping. Your situation is unique and you can be sure your individual needs will be considered - Kim Palmer, Counsellor for Young People

Nursery Staff

Nursery staff that are fully qualified in first aid, health and hygiene and are experienced nursery nurses. Our staff aim to provide:

  • A safe and stimulating environment for your baby
  • Learning experiences for students' babies through stimulating toys, activity centres, colourful books, painting, musical activities and more
  • Plenty of comfort and cuddles when needed!
  • High standards of hygiene when feeding, nappy changes, etc.
  • Support for students regarding how their babies should be cared for in the nursery

Our nursery staff will provide friendly advice on child care matters in a manner that won’t be too intimidating. On return from maternity leave, the nursery staff will take time to talk with the student about their baby’s needs, routines and comforts. Students will be given a guidelines booklet in which important information can be recorded. It also tells the student all the 'useful stuff you need to know' about things like nappy changing procedures.

Care to Learn

A Government initiative entitled “Care to Learn” will pay for your childcare if you are under 19 years of age and engaged in learning. Application forms and information are available at the Centre as well as online at www.dfes.gov.uk/caretolearn.
